Monday devotion [Reconciliation with God]

Faith in Christ is foundational to any meaningful relationship. When the first man failed, he was separated from God ; the fellowship he used to enjoy in the garden of Eden was broken.

"And the Lord called unto Adam and said unto him where art thou?  And he said i heard thy voice in the garden and i was afraid because i was naked and i hid myself. And HE said who told thee that thou was naked? Has thou eaten of the tree whereof i commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? "

God called to Adam," Adam where art thou? " He is asking you, now "where art thou"  in relationship to Him? Life has puzzled people because they begin at the wrong starting point.
Many people pray to God but do not receive any answers to their prayers.

"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you that He will not hear?"

Sin is turning away from God, from the purpose for which He made us. It is missing the mark in life, the misdirection of life, failing to measure up to God's standard. (Hebrews 10:1). The purpose for living is to be aware that God longs for a relationship, a fellowship with man. He looked for Adam who was hiding in the trees of the garden. He killed an animal and used the skin to cover Adam. God is holy, He cannot behold sin. "If we say we have no sin we make God a liar and the truth is not in us but if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

In the garden of Eden, God still initiated the relationship by calling Adam who was running from his presence. God killed the first animal to shed the blood to cover Adam's sin. This was pointing to the sacrifice the son of God was going to make on the cross to bring all mankind to fellowship with him ;"without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin."
Reconciliation to God always involves two spiritual movements; accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour, turning away from sin and turning towards God by the Spirit of God.

Reconciliation to God is not just what we do externally such as confessing our sins before the priest so that we get enlisted for baptism or so that we can marry in the church, or so that our names will be in the church register and so that we can receive church burial when we die. Some people's names may be in the church register but may not be in the book of life. Is your name written in the book of life? (Rev20:12,15).
The book is like Noah's Ark, those who entered were saved. "Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by him"(John14:1). He is standing at the door of your heart and knocking. Ask Him to come into your heart now (Rev 3:20). Pray and invite him into your heart so that your name will be written in the book of life.

There are benefits in being reconciled with God when you get reconciled to God, you receive the following; forgiveness of sin, peace with God, peace of God, answers to prayers, heaven as a reward, fellowship with God, etc.
There are also dangers in not being reconciled with God such as, you remain an enemy of God, your prayers will not be answered, your name will not be in the book of life, etc.
Please make up your mind to fully reconcile with God so that you can enjoy the full benefits of the cross.

Have a fab day you all.
