Monday Devotion : Do Away With Unforgiveness

"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

Jesus taught much about forgiveness during His stay here on earth, and He included forgiveness as one of the essential elements of prayer: And "forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors".

In verses 14 and 15 of Matthew 6 Jesus said "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you : But if ye forgive not men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Prayers will not work in an unforgiving heart. Prayers made from a grudging soul will not reach the Father's ear. We simply cannot hold a grudge against anyone and still maintain a prayer life and expect to get results.

It is foolishness to want to try to get into a house without having the keys to that house, the same way we can't come before God's presence and expect results when we haven't forgiven those that have offended us.
Bitterness is a barrier to answered prayers and personal peace of mind and bliss in God's presence. If our prayer life is to experience testimonies in 2016, then unforgiveness must be far away from our hearts.
I pray for you today, you will no longer harbour unforgiveness in your heart in Jesus name. Amen

How was your weekend?

  2. God bless you, sweet Glo. Thank you.

Forgive really doesn't come naturally when people hurt us. It takes the Spirit in us to forgive as many who trespass against us. May God help us. The beautiful thing about forgiving people is that you're not only setting yourself free, you're actually contributing to something of greater importance, something the world is literally crying out for in more places than you could possibly imagine:PEACE

    Forgiveness brings PEACE

  3. I know this is very hard but if you are a true child of God you can truly forgive!

Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and handcuffs of hatred. It is a power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness.
Anger can only makes you smaller while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond what you are.

Ephesians 4:31-32 says Let all bitterness, and wrath and anger and clamour and evil speaking, be put away from you with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgive you.

For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? For sinners also love those who love them.
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? For sinners also do even the same. Luke6:32-34.

But love ye your enemies, and do good…and your reward will be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luke 6:35

Thank you Pastor Gloria for this! Stay blessed!

  4. Sweet Glo, my weekend was great and yours? As per the issue of forgiveness, it's really not an easy thing to do. But as Christians and children of God who want answered prayers, it's very important we forgive those who hurt/offend us if we must enjoy free access in the presence of God.

    1. Yes it's human to forgive and not forget but what makes the difference is that when you remember you don't get hurt, you don't feel bitter there's no hatred of any kind towards the person.

  8. Bola...you have to learn and develop the spirit of forgiveness.

Gloria thanks so much for the post. Its really necessary to forgive in order to get forgiveness from God.

But what if the person in question refuses to apologise or seek for forgiveness even after hurting us?

    1. @Uthman thanks for your contributions. In that scenario or example you sighted, you just still have to let go and leave him/her to worry about that. It's hard and painful i know but let go and let God.
