Beware of comparison

One of the worst things that any individual can do to him/herself, is when you start comparing your life with that of other people. Many of us are guilty of this without our knowing.

The truth is that the moment you start comparing your life, your career, your relationship, even your blog to another person's, that is the moment trouble begins for you. Comparison has the power to consume you if you let it; it shows in your attitude and behaviour (mostly negative) towards others.
Comparison keeps you in discontentment. While there is nothing wrong with desiring some positive outcome in life, or traits you may see in someone else, there is everything wrong with dwelling in self-denial, self-pity which often leads to depression just because you are desiring someone else's life; not minding they also have a lot of weaknesses.

Your life is yours and yours alone. Therefore, it is important to focus on your strengths and use it to your advantage as the same person you are desiring to become, is also admiring you.

By comparing yourself to another person, you have simply said he/she is better and can do better than you when in actual fact, like i stated above whoever you may be comparing yourself to also has their own weaknesses you just didn't have the privilege of seeing them up close and personal. [THEIRS MAY EVEN BE WORSE THAN YOU THINK]

Beware of comparison; it is the game of fools; don’t give the enemy the power to trap you in discontentment.  Learn to accept and celebrate the uniqueness of "you".
Stop focusing on your weaknesses for whatever you focus on is what will magnify. Ask God for the grace to be content with your own life and wisdom to become better.
I am unique, you are unique and we are both unique together.

  1. Yes indeed. No one can be like the other. When we compare, we dampen the spirit. It kills us.

You couldn't have said it any better.

    Thanks for writing, sweetie.

  2. Celebrate the uniqueness of YOU.
When people start comparing that's when negative energy springs up,hate comments etc.
Instead of wasting the energy on negativity use it to improve on yourself
